You can see the edges of the featherboards, thin edges touching, making up the back, as well as the other three long pieces that span the width of the rack.

Looks like it was made from clapboard siding. I have replaced a lot of it on my 1891 Victorian farmhouse. I always keep a couple lengths on the wood rack.
