gc2017.jpgGC 2017 Gifts51 viewsA hearty "thank you" to my gifter, Stuart Minuskin. Inside the flat rate box was a Chris Vesper chip-carving knife, a new headlamp, a pocket Stanley Tool reference book, a nicely turned pen, a calendar from Queensland for the shop, and a "The Tool Exchange" t-shirt. Merry Christmas, Stuart!madwing

IMG_2586.JPGGalootaclaus 2009 - Today was a second Christmas!68 viewsJust before 1pm, I walked down to the mailbox, and there was the package .. Galootaclaus has been here!

First things out of the box was Albert's note (thank you, Albert), followed by eight NOS files, a nice example of a Morrill Apex sawset, a Craftsman drill index, and a set of five Stanley 750 chisels, three of which need some TLC to get their handles to stay where they belong. Niiiccee chisels, worthy of sitting next to my Bucks, Witherby's, Sorby's and Spear & Jackson.

IMG_1310.JPG1) The raw material117 viewsI passed this 7 foot pine 1x4 at the dumpster at work the day before Christmas, and having been wanting to try dovetailing, threw it in the truck thinking it'd be good free stock to practice. After paring off the old glue line, I cut four five inch lengths, hand planed and squared them, and decided to try to dovetail them together into a square open box.TRexF16
