IMG_6685.JPGdetail of the older leg vise screw mount38 viewsThis may look a bit rough to some, but it is definitely a cleaner installation than the way it was mounted on my grandfather's 80, 90 or more years main bench. This one works quite wel. With two leg vises on the south end mounted 'in plane', it is quite easy to hold short sections (3-5 ft) of lumber for sawing to a line, although the height isn't ideal. Also very useful for holding items when needing to run round tenons with one of the hollow augers.Charlie Driggs

2012-01-14_16-56-37_513_crop_adj.jpgPrimed bird and bat houses35 viewsMy son built the bird and bat houses while working on his Webelos (Cub Scout) Craftsman activity badge. His block plane, model plane, clamps and eggbeater drill were used in making the houses. :)

I built 6 birdhouse and 5 bathouse kits for the Webelos. The Den meeting at which the houses were assembled featured a short show-and-tell session with a bunch of Galoot tools. :)

65lbs.jpg
65lbs.jpgI was able to squeeze the bathroom scales to ~65 lbs.160 viewsI don't think this was anything like an accurate measure of maximum clamping pressure, because the cam will only flex the spring arm to a hair short of 3/8" from rest. That went to the 65 lb. mark, but If I could get another purchase I think it would go more-not that you need much more to hold a tight glue joint until it sets.Tom11

coat_rack1.jpg114 viewsHere is a short (2ft or so, .7m Jeff) section of coat rack that I made. Its modeled after the window sills in my house. The detail at the bottom and the cove molding was done with a rebate plane and scratch stocks.dhahn

04_IMG_4297s.jpgChest foot - 1 of 4161 viewsI'm quite certain these feet are not original to the chest, but a Victorian 'improvement'. They were attached with screws too short to provide adequate support to withstand sideways dragging. Schwartz
