Workbench in Use
Dean Jansa from Wood Central (I think) has posted a bunch of photos of using his hybrid Roubo/Contemporary bench. It has a crochet on the left face and a Lee Valley twin screw vise on the right face. There's a sliding board jack and he uses holdfasts and a planing stop. The is a very useful photo-essay for anyone designing a bench and wondering what they really need to do the kind of work they want to.

All of Christopher Schwarz's blog posts about building and tuning a traditional English workbench as found in Peter Nicholson's Mechanic's Companion from 1831. Good outline of this style of bench.
