IMG_7278.JPGmy shop's traveling pegboard13 viewsThis storage center has been in my shops in three houses, and supports easily several times its own weight. It is suspended from the floor joists above on two aircraft-style multi strand cables, and should one of those slip, the whole board would only drop less than 1/4" inc onto the benchtop below.

Items on this board include braces, drawshave, perfect handle and cabinetmakers screwdrivers, marking gauges, hand drills, gimlets, try squares, steel rules, metal shears, drill & screw sizing gauges

Diderot_folding_chair_plan_drawing_schematic-enlarged.jpgDiderot folding chair schematic drawings87 viewsFrom Diderot's Encyclopedia two images of folding camp chairs. The first appears to have a fabric seat, whereas the second example appears to have a slip seat.Sgt42RHR

more_enlarged_folding_chairs.jpgEnlarged image of 1780 folding camp chair30 viewsWhile it's not clear from the drawing, this appears to be the slip seat model as shown in the second example from Diderot.Sgt42RHR
Spicebox_dovetailed_drawers.jpg
Spicebox_dovetailed_drawers.jpgSpicebox dovetailed drawers60 viewsThis was a lot of fun! I stepped up and went for the hounds tooth dovetails on the large central drawer.Sgt42RHR
galootmas2.jpg
galootmas2.jpgDelights from Walter30 viewsCandle holders he made himself, and a similarly sourced chisel holder, Witherby chisel and a drawknife both sturdy and ready for the home. Sweetly shaped mallet, curvy wrench (I'd not seen one of these before) and an oil can for obvious uses.curt seeliger
Massachusetts_low_chest_dovetails1.jpg
Massachusetts_low_chest_dovetails1.jpgDovetailed drawers99 viewsI made the four drawers when I got home from the class. I used dividers to maintain the same spacing ratio on each of the drawers, even though the number of tails changed with each drawer.Sgt42RHR
Massachusetts_low_chest_drawer_pull_hardware.jpg
Massachusetts_low_chest_drawer_pull_hardware.jpgDrawer pulls87 viewsAll hardware was bright brass from Ball & Ball. I painted it all with gun bluing which turned it black, then I steel wooled and polished with Simichrome polish which left patina in the deep recesses and hard to reach spots. In this view, one can also see the effect of the dark glaze applied in the fillet of the thumbnail moulding around the drawers.Sgt42RHR

Will let it dry a bit before putting the finishing touches on it.

Ready_to_cut.jpg
Ready_to_cut.jpgSlab Desk37 viewsGetting ready to cut the top. Note reference lines drawn to maintain 90 degrees with ends as there are no straight edges. After this cut, a friend's track saw was used to make them 45 degrees.jerkinsj

IMG_0715.JPGMoxon vise 42 viewsThis is build to drop into the dog holes along the east edge of the bench. With a 20" opening between the screws and a 6" capacity, it can handle most all drawer boxes I would likely work on as well as any dovetail joints.Charlie Driggs

IMG_20150822_174929.jpg2015 Galoot BBQ 296 viewsmy small workbench, so much better than a Workmate(tm).
The thing on the left if the shaving pony we were using to rough our spoon blanks with a small drawknife. I had a couple of dog tie-out stakes and a ratchet strap cinching the bench solidly to the ground.
