Alvin_Sellins_Stanley_Sweet_Heart_Buckle.jpgBuckle, belt, and tool164 viewsYears ago I picked up an Alvin Sellens Stanley Sweetheart belt buckle, stamped 496 of 500. I finally got around to making the belt today. I tried some water soluble dye this time, and the edge is dressed with a W. H. Horn & Bro edging tool (1890-1902 Philadelphia).Sgt42RHR

EsthersForge.JPGWNY 2011 - Micro Forge67 viewsWestern NY Galootapalooza
Here is Esther's new One-Brick-Forge.
It heats up fast and does a great job on small stuff, like knives or plane blades. Alas the leaf spring was too big to fit inside, so no froe-making today!dlarue

shop_1900s.jpgShop circa 1900 (?)145 viewsBelt-driven machine shop that still exists today, circa 1900...maybe? The business operated on the same site from 1850 until about 1950, so I'm judging from the presence of electricity and the workers' attire.citydweller

IMG_2586.JPGGalootaclaus 2009 - Today was a second Christmas!68 viewsJust before 1pm, I walked down to the mailbox, and there was the package .. Galootaclaus has been here!
First things out of the box was Albert's note (thank you, Albert), followed by eight NOS files, a nice example of a Morrill Apex sawset, a Craftsman drill index, and a set of five Stanley 750 chisels, three of which need some TLC to get their handles to stay where they belong. Niiiccee chisels, worthy of sitting next to my Bucks, Witherby's, Sorby's and Spear & Jackson.Charlie Driggs

IMG_2502.JPGChippendale Ottoman - finished 2120 viewsHere we are three years later -- and the finished chair and ottoman were delivered today. I did my part back in July 2006, but this time the delay was due to LOML, as she couldn't decide what fabric she wanted. Also, despite me taking the course she required on upholstery, she spent a chunk of our savings to have a 'pro' reupholster the chair and make a matching cushion for the ottoman I made. Came out quite nice, actually.Charlie Driggs
