Big_and_little_mitre_boxes.jpg
Big_and_little_mitre_boxes.jpgLittle brother and big brother122 viewsA 12 inch Millers Falls mitrebox and a big Stanley mitrebox. Both with Disston saws each with 1896-1917 PHILADA medallions. Both saws came with their respective mitreboxes. Neither have been sharpened but both cut quickly and smoothly. I use both of these a lot. The little Millers Falls is just perfect for moulding and small bits.Sgt42RHR
Possible_depth_adjustment.jpg
Possible_depth_adjustment.jpgPossible depth adjuster?11 viewsThis closeup shows what appears to be an unthreaded thumb screw (peg?) in a position that would allow it to be used as a depth adjustment for the possible thickness gauge formed by the spring arm. At present the end of the thumb peg is level with the underside of the arm in which it is affixed. It does not protrude and thus is presently not providing support for the spring arm assembly. The thumb peg is too rusted to move.Sgt42RHR

slotstones.jpg
slotstones.jpgSlotted, triangular sharpening stones179 viewsI picked these up at an estate sale, along with a Pfeil 1/8e carving chisel. They're triangular in cross section, look like hard arkansas and black hard arkansas stones, and each has a v-shaped groove in one edge. They can be easily removed from this holder, and rotated so their flat edges can be worked.madwing
bagpipe_case_crotch_grain_top.jpg
bagpipe_case_crotch_grain_top.jpgWalnut crotch grain lid123 viewsThis lid came from an off-cut from another project. I sawed it in half, book matched it, planed it to 1/2 inch. I think the figure looks like one of those Siamese fighting fish. Five coats of 1 pound cut amber shellac, an ebony glaze wiped on and off, and then a couple of coats of satin wiping varnish.
