Walnut crotch grain lid

This lid came from an off-cut from another project. I sawed it in half, book matched it, planed it to 1/2 inch. I think the figure looks like one of those Siamese fighting fish. Five coats of 1 pound cut amber shellac, an ebony glaze wiped on and off, and then a couple of coats of satin wiping varnish.
