Small unmarked mitre box original bed

I have removed the scrap cherry bed that I've added to raise the cutting height because the saw is too short now. To steady the new bed I've got a couple of brads nailed into the bottom that I snipped off at about 1/8" so that it will not damge the original bed (appears to have fairly coarse sandpaper applied to it).
