01_Bowsaw.jpg01 Bowsaw150 viewsAll put together after making all the wooden parts. The ready-made version is hickory. I made this from cherry. Very scientific, that choice. Went to get some hickory. Store didn't have any. Saw a nice cherry board with some interesting figure. History made.Chuck Myers

02_Bowsaw_First_Cuts.jpg02 Bowsaw First Cuts79 viewsOnce the saw was assembled and tensioned, I just had to try it out on some scrap. These are a couple of cuts I made freehand. Looks like the saw will be good for some pretty tight turns.Chuck Myers
03_Bowsaw_Knob.jpg
03_Bowsaw_Knob.jpg03 Bowsaw Knob85 viewsI ordered the kit that included the handle and knob, mostly because I wanted to have a pattern for making my own. I made a knob before the kit arrived, then made this one to match the kit. The kit item is made of hickory, this one's cherry to match the frame.Chuck Myers

04_Bowsaw_Handle.jpg04 Bowsaw Handle74 viewsLike the knob, I turned a handle before the oder arrived based (sort of) on the plans. I liked the one that comes in the kit better, so I made one out of cherry to match the frame. It's pretty comfortable to use, actually.Chuck Myers
05_Bowsaw_Stretcher_Joint.jpg
05_Bowsaw_Stretcher_Joint.jpg05 Bowsaw Stretcher Joint89 viewsThe plans call for a little rounding of the mortise and tenon shoulders to allow for movement when tension is applied. I did that, and it seems to work pretty well.Chuck Myers
06_Bowsaw_Toggle.jpg
06_Bowsaw_Toggle.jpg06 Bowsaw Toggle82 viewsI used zebrawood for the toggle, just because I had a piece that would work. The plans call for flats on two sides, but I left it round. I suppose I can add them later if I decide they're really essential (and if I figure out how).Chuck Myers

07_Bowsaw_Twine_Attachment.jpg07 Bowsaw Twine Attachment82 viewsI used nylon mason's twine for tensioning. I'd have preferred something less modern-looking, but this does the trick until something better comes along.Chuck Myers
