Stanley Nos. 80, 12, and card scrapers tamed the tearout
The walnut headboard on my folding field bedstead had terrible tearout on both sides. I restored a Stanley No. 80 and a No. 12 with newly sharpened Hock blades and along with a card scraper, removed all the tearout. This photo shows the headboard with some mineral spirits on it to check for splotchy areas.
