London_Pattern_Closeup.jpgLondon Pattern Closeup124 viewsHandle is 5 1/2" long and 1 1/8" between the flats. Ferrule is converted compression nut. Since this is a prototype, there's no adornment (e.g., burned-in groves). Wouldn't show up very well on the dark wood anyhow, and the walnut seems rather too soft for this use. Pretty schlocky work overall, but it served its purpose.Chuck Myers

London_Pattern_Prototype.jpgLondon Pattern Prototype135 viewsThis is a london pattern chisel handle I made. It's a prototype to test dimensions I'd tried to figure out using others' how-to descriptions, pictures, etc. It's made from walnut and currently attached to a Two Cherries 10 mm.Chuck Myers

Proto_2_w_Ruler.jpgPrototype 2 with Ruler88 viewsThis picture gives an idea of size and proportion. At a little under 5 1/2" it seems an appropriate size for the smallest chisels in the set.Chuck Myers

Proto_2_Closeup.jpgPrototype 2 Closeup85 viewsThis picture makes some of the detail a little more obvious. I patterned the decorative elements after those on a really beautiful handle belonging to Peter Robinson. Peter was kind enough to send me some pictures to help me figure out the proportions.Chuck Myers
