Starrett_12_inch_combination_square.JPGStarrett No. 4 Combination Square97 viewsWhen I got this many of the numerals were so rusty they were illegible and the slide would move only with great effort. It works perfectly now, the edge of rule is dead flat and the square is correct as well. Sgt42RHR

Pre-WWI_Disston-small_unmarked_mitre_box.JPGPre-WW I Disston in an unmarked mitre box156 viewsThese two tools were together when I got them. The Disston saw has a PHILADA medallion, and is now too short to reach the top of the original bed. I cleaned both up, oiled and adjusted the mitre box, and it cuts like a charm.Sgt42RHR

Small_mitre_box_original_view.JPGSmall unmarked mitre box original bed171 viewsI have removed the scrap cherry bed that I've added to raise the cutting height because the saw is too short now. To steady the new bed I've got a couple of brads nailed into the bottom that I snipped off at about 1/8" so that it will not damge the original bed (appears to have fairly coarse sandpaper applied to it).Sgt42RHR

Small_mitre_box_plane_to_scale.JPGThis gives you some idea of size158 viewsThe bed of the mitre box is only 12 inches wide, the Stanley block plane puts things in better perspective.Sgt42RHR

Stanley_mitre_box_Disston_Millers_Falls_saw.JPGStanley Mitre Box with Disston Saw200 viewsI don't remember what catalog number this Stanley mitre box is and my books are packed righ now. The saw is a Disston PHILADA medallion although the etch appears to be marked Millers Falls?? To put it into working trim I cleaned and lubricated and had the saw sharpened. I keep the saw blade waxed and it works great!Sgt42RHR
