IMG_9569_gic.jpgsplit peg for git workbench51 viewsI bored some holes and mad these split pegs for him to hammer through. The peg is sawed for about 60% of its length from one end, and then from the other at 90 deg to the first cut. That way it stays together but will compress over its entire length.dhahn

IMG_9567_gic.jpggit workbench49 viewsJust some crappy 2x4 for the top and legs. I used that junk wood so it would be light in case my son tipped it over on himself. Its at roughly workbench height for him.dhahn
IMG_9571_gic.jpg
IMG_9571_gic.jpgside view of ramp47 viewsAnother view of the ramp. My son actually props one end up and uses this as a "bridge" with his toy animals more than he uses it for cars.dhahn
IMG_9570_gic.jpg
IMG_9570_gic.jpgmatchbox car ramp48 viewsJust a simple ramp made from two pieces of poplar dovetailed together. I plowed a recess to keep the cars on the track.dhahn

IMG_9452_gic.jpgside view of git toolbox56 viewsHere's the view from the side. I think its about a foot long. You can see the curve I put on the handle. Its also curved so that it tapers to the center when viewed from the top, but you can't tell that from here.dhahn

IMG_9449_gic.jpgsome tools and a small toolbox68 viewsA small hammer, a mallet that's more like a bat in his hand still and a wooden "screwdriver". I built the toolbox for him this xmas. Its made of poplar with a plywood bottom and has 2 coats of soldier blue milk paint with a top coat of BLO.dhahn
IMG_9451_gic.jpg
IMG_9451_gic.jpghammer handle wedge51 viewsYou can see how I wedged the maple handle into the southern yellow pine head. The wedge is cherry. My hand holding the thing provides some scale.dhahn
IMG_9453_gic.jpg
IMG_9453_gic.jpggappy dovetail68 viewsYou can see how I undercut the base of the dovetail on this corner. I was coping out the waste (I normally chop) just to make less noise in my basement shop. I got a little out of control on this corner. You can also see the somewhat rough surface of the milk paint.dhahn
