groovy.jpg
groovy.jpgOdds and ends89 viewsSome fun stuff, for me: a nice little pair of forged steel scissors, a flathead screwdriver bit, an unused socket chisel handle, a Starrett scribe, a Plomb no. 235 ignition wrench, and a Plomb Phillips head screwdriver (both from 1941).madwing
malletupright.jpg
malletupright.jpgOsage Orange Mallet187 viewsI turned this, with much help from Larry McVoy, at this year's Bagathon. It's from a piece of Osage Orange (Bois D'Arc) sent to me by Roger Birkhead back in '04. About 4" diameter at the mallet, a little longer than a foot overall. Needs cleanup at the small end, that's what's left after parting.madwing
dechiseltop.jpg
dechiseltop.jpgWhatsit89 viewsA double-ended chisel-type thingie, no clue what it is. Semi-cranked on both ends. Has concave tips, like they are for smoothing round rods, or something.madwing

sidetblend.JPG
sidetblend.JPGSide table116 viewsA side view of the end table. The loveseat it's against is fairly standard arm height, so it's actually a little tall for what we want (hmmm, maybe i should cut off a couple-three inches of the legs...;)madwing

DSC02843.JPGSome japanning lost153 viewsThis is after an overnight dunk in Evaporust, a good scrunging, and some wax on the tote and knob.madwing
twohinges.jpg
twohinges.jpgBoth hinge-ends done92 viewsWe put them against each other to see how flat the straps were, and how even the hinge eyes were. Not bad; we corrected the "out of flat" on each strap that made the gap between them on the next heat.madwing
visechopfstep4.jpg
visechopfstep4.jpgRebated Steps for Vise Chop Molding117 viewsAfter much thinking, and repeated visits to http://musingsfrombigpink.blogspot.com, I ended up with these steps. The second and third from the right will make a hollow, and the wide one on the left will be where I put a round.madwing

gc2017.jpgGC 2017 Gifts50 viewsA hearty "thank you" to my gifter, Stuart Minuskin. Inside the flat rate box was a Chris Vesper chip-carving knife, a new headlamp, a pocket Stanley Tool reference book, a nicely turned pen, a calendar from Queensland for the shop, and a "The Tool Exchange" t-shirt. Merry Christmas, Stuart!madwingDec 26, 2017
